Perched atop a hill on a private 10-acre property backing onto a golf course, Hilltop House is designed as a residence that celebrates both landscape and arrival. The approach to the home unfolds along a meandering driveway that slowly reveals the architecture, allowing the scale and presence of the house to emerge gradually within the surrounding tree canopy.
Spanning 18,000 square feet, the home was designed with entertaining at its core while still supporting the rhythms of daily family life. The architecture takes full advantage of the expansive and private setting, with floor-to-ceiling glazing on both the front and rear elevations, creating a constant visual connection to the landscape and the changing seasons.
A dramatic entrance canopy marks the arrival sequence, creating a sense of scale and anticipation. Full-height angled metal screens frame the entry, casting dynamic shadows throughout the day while guiding visitors toward the main doors.
At the centre of the home, a large interior courtyard introduces daylight deep into the core of the house while organizing the program. The courtyard creates a natural separation between guest and entertainment spaces and the more private back-of-house functions. Circulation on the second level wraps around this courtyard, where a glass floor bridge maintains openness and visual connection across the home while reinforcing the airy spatial experience.
The interior architecture is defined by expansive uninterrupted spaces paired with moments of quiet retreat. Generous proportions, including 13-foot ceilings throughout, establish a sense of openness and grandeur while maintaining warmth through carefully layered materials and natural light.
Designed for entertaining, the main living spaces flow seamlessly to the outdoors through 13-foot-high sliding glass doors that open to the backyard terrace, outdoor kitchen, and gathering areas. These spaces extend toward a 10-car garage and a separate double-height sports court, reinforcing the home’s focus on recreation and hosting.
The primary suite is conceived as an open, hotel-inspired retreat — a private sanctuary within the home that emphasizes comfort, light, and expansive views across the surrounding landscape.
Hilltop House ultimately balances scale with intimacy, creating a residence that is both dramatic in its presence and deeply connected to the landscape that surrounds it.
